April 22nd, 2026 is the 57th Earth Day.
今年的4月22日是第57个世界地球日。
At the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains in Xi’an, at Xiaowutai Mountain, a heartwarming routine has taken place every weekend since March of last year. Many parent bring their kids to the mountains to join the “Trash for Coffee” activity.
在秦岭北麓，西安市长安区小五台山脚下，从去年3月份开始，每到周末，都有不少家长会带着孩子来到秦岭山中体验“捡垃圾换咖啡”。
Here is the deal: 1 kilo of trash gets you a free coffee, and 3 kilos earn a pizza. “Trash” turns into a special “currency” here, for a better life, while a cup of coffee serves as a sweet reward for eco-conscious behavior.
“一公斤垃圾换一杯咖啡，三公斤垃圾换一份披萨”。在那里，“垃圾”成了换取美好生活的“货币”，“咖啡”则成为对环保行为的肯定与回报。
From the restaurant owner who launched this initiative to every hikers, these “Qinling guardians” are shining examples of grassroot environmental protection effort in China.
