提起陕西彩塑，其历史源远流长，始于先秦西周时期，流传民间三千年之久，是我国至今保留最古老、最具民族特色的泥塑类手工制品。杨凌马氏彩塑，最早起源于第一代传承人马世龙，那时他以给庙里塑神像为生，在陕西关中甘肃一带很有名气，往后一直采用父子师徒的方式传承，目前该技艺已传承五代，成为一项优秀的传统美术项目。
