While Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 keeps busting global box-office records, the movie's character theme song Ne Zha is also attracting a legion of fans.
During an exclusive interview with China Daily online show Cultural Frontline, the song's singer and songwriter Tang Hanxiao said musical composition was the same as acting to him, he just needs musical elements to perform. To best show the spirit of Nezha, the main character and mythological hero, Tang mixed the sounds of Chinese traditional instruments, especially that of suona (a traditional Chinese woodwind instrument). However, wishing to present original Chinese sounds in a modern way, Tang merged them with Western instruments and digital musical production techniques.
